We provide a full range of virology tests to our users and our research and development team are continuously updating and introducing new assays.

In addition to our routine repertoire we are part of The Scottish National Blood Borne Virus Specialist Testing Service which provides specialist testing for blood borne viruses for Scotland, and are responsible for testing respiratory specimens for national surveillance purposes.

A limited range of laboratory tests is available outside normal working hours (these include organ donor screening, Varicella antibody testing for at-risk patients and pandemic influenza testing. During the winter period respiratory tests are available for high risk and ITU patients, on a case by case basis).

Organ donor testing can be arranged directly with the duty Biomedical Scientist, via the Gartnavel switchboard (0141 211 3000), all other requests should be directed to the on-call medical virologist first.
