WHAT DO WE DO?
We provide a comprehensive clinical and diagnostic virology service covering the range of serological and molecular diagnostic and confirmatory assays.
We have a team of five consultant clinical virologists (3 whole time equivalent) and trainees in clinical virology. The team provides clinical advice to doctors and other Health Care Professionals in the region on all aspects of virology, including diagnosis, management, and the prevention of viral infections including vaccination.
The Microbiology and Virology Services department provides a full laboratory infection service which also includes bacteriology, TB, mycology, enterics and parasitology.
The laboratory is fully UKAS accredited to ISO15189 standards.
